The MTN Bright Scholar Scholarship Scheme which is currently sponsoring over hundreds of brilliant but needy students in the various universities in Ghana has seen at least Fourteen (14) students graduated at the KNUST.
Speaking to the media, Mr Robbert Kuzoe who is the
senior manager at the MTN Ghana Foundation, said, investing in the students has not gone waste because one of their students was awarded the best graduating student, MBCHB and Surgery.
He said sponsoring these students has a great positive impact by shaping and helping them throughout their schshooling.
Mr. Robbert Kuzoe made this remark at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology during its 57th graduation ceremony on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Out of the 14 brilliant but needy MTN sponsored students who graduated at the KNUST, five (5) were medical students, five(5) were pharmaceutical students whilst the remaining four (4) were students from the other fields.
According to the senior manager, the MTN as an engineering company dreams to assist more of such brilliant but needy students, especially those within the STEM, IT, medicine and other science related courses in order to help build the capacity of young engineers.
He said this will also help impact the development of the country.
"We have over thousands bright scholars on our scheme which some of them are lecturers, others medical doctors and some are with MTN working and they excel wherever they find themselves," he said.
Mr Robbert Kuzoe however charged the graduating students to use the knowledge they have acquired to make positive impact in their various communities.
Some of the beneficiacy students who graduated expressed gratitude to MTN, the scholarship scheme for sponsoring them throughout their education career.
Albert Kwaku Boahen who was awarded the best graduating student, MBCHB and surgery and his colleague, Emmanuel Koomson who also studied doctorate in pharmacy, said, the intervention of the MTN program had really helped them.
They further charged their fellow students who are brilliant but struggling to apply for the scholarship and pray for luck and consideration.
According to them, there was no protocol in the process adding that it was very real and transparent.
