Calls for dissolution of ECG board misplaced – Afenyo-Markin

The Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has dismissed calls for the board’s dissolution by the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) as “misplaced.”

ACEP had cited mismanagement and revenue losses, which rose from GH¢295 million in 2017 to GH¢9.7 billion in 2022.

Afenyo-Markin emphasized the need for reforms and stakeholder engagement instead of blaming the board.

He assured that the recent resignation of ECG’s Managing Director, Samuel Dubik Mahama, will not affect power supply, and the company remains committed to providing reliable services.
