The NPP’s running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has pledged that a Bawumia-led administration will ban mining in water bodies and forest reserves.
He assured that the next NPP government would provide eco-friendly mining equipment to promote sustainable practices and protect the environment.
Speaking at Odotobri in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Prempeh highlighted plans to support community mining with regulated policies.
His remarks come amid growing calls from labor unions and other groups for a ban on all mining activities until lasting solutions to illegal mining (galamsey) are implemented.
