While President Nana Akufo-Addo addressed the UN General Assembly in New York, Ghanaians in the U.S. staged protests against the arrests of Democracy Hub demonstrators in Accra.
The protesters demanded the release of individuals detained during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests, which raised concerns over illegal mining (galamsey).
In Accra, 11 protesters appeared in court under heavy security, pleading not guilty to conspiracy charges.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed Ghana's commitment to good governance, emphasizing the nation's dedication to accountability and the protection of citizens under the rule of law.
