Media Coalition Against Galamsey vows to press Bawumia and Mahama to publicly denounce illegal mining

The Media Coalition Against Galamsey is pressuring Ghana's leading presidential candidates, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (NPP) and John Dramani Mahama (NDC), to publicly denounce illegal mining ahead of the December elections.

Despite a petition from the coalition, both candidates remain silent on the issue.

Convenor Dr. Ing. Kenneth Ashigbey stressed the need for strong, non-partisan leadership to tackle the environmental crisis.

He urged political unity behind President Akufo-Addo to prevent the galamsey fight from being exploited for electoral gain.

The coalition vows to continue its push for accountability.
