Mortuary workers temporarily suspend strike

The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has suspended its strike, giving the government two weeks to address demands including PPE provision, salary arrears, and hiring of 500 new workers.

The strike was initiated to push for better working conditions.

MOWAG’s General Secretary, Richard Kofi Jordan, warned that if demands are not met by October 10, the strike will resume. He emphasized that their requests are straightforward and won’t strain the economy.

MOWAG criticized the government for not fulfilling promises made to frontline health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
