A group of lawyers has petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) against the Ghana Police Service, alleging rights violations during the recent StopGalamsey protest organized by the Democracy Hub.

The three-day protest aimed to urge the government to address illegal mining activities harming Ghana's natural resources and future generations.

The lawyers' petition, led by Timothy Selikem Donkor, calls for an investigation into unlawful arrests, detention conditions, and violations of legal rights, urging CHRAJ to act swiftly on the matter.
