UCC Vice Chancellor appeals Court injunction on his tenure extension

Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, has appealed a High Court ruling that prevents him from performing his duties.

The injunction was granted following a case filed by John Mevemeo, who argues that Prof. Nyarko’s contract renewal, extending his tenure beyond his retirement date in 2025, violates university statutes and the 1992 constitution.

Prof. Nyarko, who was appointed in 2020 and had his contract renewed in July 2023, contends that the injunction could disrupt the university’s operations.
