University of Ghana postpones commencement of 2024/2025 academic year

The University of Ghana has postponed the start of the 2024/2025 academic year due to an ongoing strike by various teacher unions.

The announcement was made by the University’s Registrar on September 25, 2024.

While the academic year’s commencement is delayed, special programs will continue as planned, with a new start date to be announced later.

The strike involves several unions, including the Senior Staff Association and the Teachers and Educational Workers Union, who are demanding the government address issues like vehicle maintenance and pension allowances, as well as fulfill a collective bargaining agreement by the end of September 2024.
