In Lagos, Nigeria's megacity, a building collapses every two weeks on average, highlighting a systemic failure in governance and accountability.

Despite regulations and inspection systems, these collapses continue due to corruption, substandard materials, and poorly trained workers.

At least 90 buildings have fallen in Lagos over the past 12 years, killing over 350 people.

Authorities rarely hold those responsible accountable, and political influence often shields culprits from prosecution.

With 19 collapses already this year, the city remains at high risk, while the underlying issues remain unresolved.
