The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has initiated a major project to replace outdated electricity meters in the Accra East region with advanced Smart MMS-compliant prepaid meters.
Running from September 2 to 30, 2024, this upgrade targets 250,000 meters across districts including Makola, Teshie, Legon, and Adentan.
The move, endorsed by the Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC), aims to enhance service delivery and address a GH₵893 million revenue shortfall caused by malfunctioning meters.
The new meters offer remote top-up features and better data management, contributing to ECG's Loss Reduction Project.
Customers are assured a smooth, cost-free transition.
