The Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Samuel Dubik Mahama, revealed that the company lost between GH₵400 million and GH₵500 million due to a ransomware attack.
Speaking on The Point of View, Mahama explained that the attack occurred during a critical period of system upgrades, severely impacting ECG's operations.
He noted that ECG, which can generate GH₵50-60 million daily, suffered significant financial losses over the week-long disruption.
Mahama confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, following Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's earlier comments about sabotage within ECG's IT unit.
