Tax Analyst Francis Timore Boi is advocating for the creation of specialized courts to address property tax defaulters.
He suggests that failure to pay these taxes should, in severe cases, lead to property seizures and prosecutions, similar to practices in other countries.
Speaking at the National Tax Conference organized by Oxfam, Boi emphasized that stricter enforcement could boost local assemblies' revenue and reduce their reliance on central government funds.
He argues that taxation is obligatory, not voluntary, and that local authorities should have the power to take legal action against non-compliance.
