The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) plans to include two million informal sector workers in the tax system by 2025 with a new, simplified tax regime.
Kumasi Area Director Agnes Akosua Boateng stated that the new system will ease tax assessments and lower compliance costs.
It will feature installment payments for small vendors and a turnover-based system for larger informal businesses.
The GRA is also engaging religious leaders to encourage tax compliance.
Chief Revenue Officer Evans Teye Agbozo promised a friendlier approach to tax transactions.
Participants emphasized the need for effective use of collected taxes to encourage compliance.
