The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) claims to save Ghana GH₵345 million in 2023 through a payroll monitoring exercise across 120 public sector institutions.
This initiative aimed to reduce the wage bill and increase transparency.
Employment Minister Ignatius Baffour Awuah highlighted the savings at a press briefing, noting the exercise also reduced ghost workers and improved public sector productivity.
He praised Ghana’s peaceful labour environment and ongoing efforts to update labour laws, emphasizing the government's commitment to worker welfare and industrial harmony.
The review includes extending maternity leave and protecting against workplace harassment.
