Mobile money vendors in Sissala East, Upper West Region, have indefinitely suspended their services to protest a wave of violent robberies targeting them.
The Mobile Money Vendors Association took this action after 12 armed robbery incidents in three months, with eight involving mobile money operators.
Four shops were robbed in August alone, resulting in two deaths and significant financial losses.
Although some suspects were arrested, their release on bail has heightened safety concerns.
The strike has left customers stranded, prompting calls for improved security measures.
Local police have not commented on the situation.
