The National Democratic Congress' (NDC) Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr Clement Apaak has welcomed government’s decision to extend the validity of passport from five to 10 years.
Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in a memo to all Ghana’s foreign missions said the validity of ordinary passport booklets issued to qualified Ghanaian applicants has been extended from five to 10 years effective 31st March 2019.
Reacting to this development, Dr Apaak who is also a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament applauded the move.
He said: “It is a welcome news, so if this is coming onstream I think it should be welcomed”.
He however advised that measures are put in place to deal with miscreants who go about issuing passport to non-Ghanaians.
