Two pastors of The Church of Pentecost in the Hohoe area were saved from death after fire gutted their vehicle, a Toyota Highlander with registration number WR 1381-11 on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
The duo, Ernest Wisdom Worlanyo of Tokurano district and Henry Haywood of Dormaabin district were on their way to a meeting at Hohoe.
According to Pastor Worlanyo, who was driving the vehicle, when they reached the Asukawkaw Mountains on the Tokurano-Hohoe stretch, he sensed a strange scent in the vehicle. He said he parked the vehicle and realized that there was fire beneath the car. Immediately they alighted from the vehicle, the central lock system of the vehicle got locked.
As they tried with a fire extinguisher to put out the fire, other commuters came to the scene with fire extinguishers to help but to no avail.
He said the people thought turning the vehicle to its side could have given a better view of the starting point of the fire and then put it out.
However, immediately the vehicle was turned to its side, the wind increased and the fire engulfed the whole vehicle, burning it beyond recognition.
