Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has pledged his commitment to maintaining peace in Ghana as the 2024 general elections approach.
His remarks were made during a visit from the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS), led by National Executive Director Obento Nana Kwasi Gyetuah, who urged the Speaker to use his influence to promote peace before, during, and after the elections.
Bagbin assured GNACOPS of his dedication to free, fair, and peaceful elections. He highlighted recent peace-focused initiatives, including a seminar in Tamale as part of Ghana’s 30-year parliamentary democracy celebrations and the Democracy Cup, which uses football to promote unity.
Bagbin also praised GNACOPS for educating youth on peace, emphasizing that "the foundation of life is peace."
