The Ghana Meteorological Agency has warned that the rains which started Thursday morning will persist for a while, consequently Ghanaians should avoid fast flowing water.
There has been downpour for nearly six hours, sparking fears of flooding in parts of the capital.
A caution message being circulated by Communications minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah said: “The Ghana Meteorological Agency has advised that the rains will continue for a while longer; hence the general public should avoid fast flowing water, move from lower ground to higher places if need be and call emergency lines- including 112 should the need arise”.
A year ago the country experienced several hours’ of rains which resulted in Ghana’s worst disaster following the death of over 150 lives.
