The Minister of Works and Housing has requested additional funding to address phase one of the Akosombo Dam spillage resettlement program.
The government initially allocated GH¢200 million, but an additional GH¢200 million is needed to cover consultancy fees and land compensation, bringing the total projected cost to GH¢600 million.
Chief Director Rev. Stephen Yaw Osei emphasized that to complete the resettlement within a year, the full amount is necessary.
If extended to two or three years, an extra GH¢200 million per year will be required.
The Ministry is prioritizing affected homes and seeks the funds to expedite the process.
