President Akufo-Addo can practically be described as a ‘tired man’ considering he has to carry every single ‘cross’ laid on his back by Ghanaians, be it his fault or otherwise. Private legal practitioner, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko has said.
Read full articleCommenting on the Menzgold Saga on his Facebook wall, the known member of the ruling New Patriotic Party noted how the President seems to be getting all the blame for the woes of the Menzgold Boss from all sides.
First he said, Mr. Akufo-Addo was castigated for conspiring with his cohorts to sabotage the gold firm; Menzgold Company Ltd. when the Central Bank and the Security Exchange Commission under his supervision issued a warning to all clients, indicating its uninvolvement in the former’s trading activities.
After reaping from their own stubbornness however he added, they have switched sides and are now blaming the same Akufo-Addo for turning a deaf ear to the pleas of aggrieved customers who want their ‘locked up’ cash returned.
“Akufo-Addo abr3 roff! First, he got criticized by clients and beneficiaries when the system started taking action against the activities of Menzgold. Now, he’s being blamed for not ‘protecting’ Menzgold’s customers”, he wrote in a post.
He however was optimistic that Ghana is yet to experience tremendous transformation in the coming days with major plans being put in place by President Akufo-Addo.
“Systematically, Akufo-Addo is transforming the structure of our nation. There is a plan; there is a programme; most of all, conviction. Keep the faith.”
Mr. Otchere-Darko has been actively commenting on issues regarding the recent brouhaha on the Menzgold scandal. It can be recalled that he demanded for the re-arrest of Menzgold CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah after claiming the latter had violated his bail conditions and absconded.
“I understand the owner of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah, has breached his bail condition and absconded. We can’t allow those who allegedly dupe people with such impunity to get away with it that easily. Let’s smoke them out, wherever they are, and throw the book at them! While, I will not want a pesewa of my tax money to be involved with this ponzi matter, I believe majority of Ghanaians will agree with me that the law must come down heavily on those who use such schemes to destroy the lives of many people”, he wrote.
