President Nana Akufo-Addo has highlighted Ghana's advancements in vaccine production at the Global Forum for Vaccine Sovereignty and Innovation.
He announced the approval of the African Vaccine Manufacturing Accelerator (AVMA), aiming for Africa to produce 60% of its vaccine doses by 2040.
Akufo-Addo stressed Ghana's commitment to immunisation and sustainable vaccine manufacturing, emphasizing public-private partnerships.
He outlined plans to expand vaccination schedules and achieve full self-financing by 2030.
The president introduced Ghana's Health Financing Strategy 2023-2030 and the establishment of the Ghana National Vaccine Institute. He concluded by praising collaborative efforts and expressing optimism for Africa's vaccine production future.
