Professor Eric Abavare, President of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s UTAG chapter, has defended his controversial remarks calling President Nana Akufo-Addo a "joker" in the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).
During a TV appearance, Prof. Abavare criticized the government's ineffective approach to land reclamation, citing reports that less than 1% of destroyed lands had been restored.
Despite criticism from NPP’s Enoch Afoakwa, Prof. Abavare stood by his statement, arguing that the president's poor performance on this issue warranted the harsh description, likening it to failing an exam.
