Residents of Akwamu in the Eastern Region have issued a two-week ultimatum to the government to address long-standing grievances.

Over the weekend, they staged a protest march from New Akrade to Atimpoku, demanding action on issues such as land sales and employment with the Volta River Authority.

Traditional leaders and community members, clad in red and black, chanted war songs and carried placards highlighting their frustration.

Despite their significant contributions to national projects like the Akosombo Dam, Akwamu feels neglected.

They have called for recognition and fair treatment, including resisting the renaming of the Tema Mpakadan Railway Station.

The District Chief Executive, Mavis Akonnor, received their petition and promised to forward it for further action.
