Government has directed that family members and sympathizers of former Vice President Aliu Mahama be airlifted from the Northern Region to Accra, where his funeral shall be held.
Chief of Staff Henry Martey Newman in an interview said: “Three aircrafts have been released to airlift family members and sympathizers to Accra for the funeral rites of Alhaji Aliu Mahama, whose demises occurred at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Friday”.
He indicated that government was hoping that his condition improved so he could be sent outside the country for specialist treatment.
The funeral rite comes off in Accra on Saturday 17th November, 2012, as custom of Islam demands.
