Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has strongly criticized comments made by an NDC communicator, Dela, who insinuated that former President John Agyekum Kufour’s disability is a form of divine punishment.

Expressing his dismay, Anyidoho stated, “How on earth can JM [John Mahama] allow his boys to insult President Kufour and say he is in a wheelchair because God is punishing him?”

He further reflected on his engagements with President Kufour, recalling their discussions about the late President Mills’ biography and national issues.

“President Mills and J.J. Rawlings will be weeping. This is NOT the NDC I know!” he lamented.

Dela’s remarks, widely criticized as insensitive, accused the former president, who is wheelchair-bound due to health reasons, of reaping the consequences of his actions as a leader.

In his statement, Dela said, “He should enjoy his retirement with the riches he had from being president. He is in a wheelchair as payment for his sins as president.”
