Appiah Stadium expresses appreciation to NDC

A serial caller of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Frank Kwame Appiah popularly called Appiah Stadium has expressed his appreciation to the rank and file of the party following his arrest few days ago by the Ashanti Regional Police command.

Appiah Stadium was caught on tape insulting the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo describing him as a ‘monkey and wee smoker’ during his visit to the UN General Assembly Meeting.

In a statement signed by Appiah Stadium, it said, ‘However, in all of this, I was touched by the tumultuous and rapturous show of comradeship and camaraderie by the rank and file of the NDC. It is for this reason, that I wish to seize this opportunity to express my gratitude to all and sundry within the NDC who contributed immensely to getting me back my freedom.

‘First and foremost, my appreciation goes to every single member of the NDC who contributed in diverse ways to getting me out of detention’.

For Immediate Release 28TH SEPTEMBER, 2017 APPIAH STADIUM EXPRESSES HIS SINCERE APPRECIATION TO THE RANK AND FILE OF THE NDC

I would like to express my deep and profound gratitude to the rank and file of the NDC for the support, unity of purpose and overwhelming show of love I received on Tuesday, 26th September, 2017.

As we all know, I was needlessly and arbitrarily arrested by the Police in Kumasi, subsequently transferred to Accra and finally detained at the National Police Headquarters. In what was a clear manifestation of pompous use of political power, I was harassed, and dehumanized like a criminal all at the behest of the intolerant NPP government.

However, in all of this, I was touched by the tumultuous and rapturous show of comradeship and camaraderie by the rank and file of the NDC. It is for this reason, that I wish to seize this opportunity to express my gratitude to all and sundry within the NDC who contributed immensely to getting me back my freedom. First and foremost, my appreciation goes to every single member of the NDC who contributed in diverse ways to getting me out of detention.

The absolute unity of purpose and commitment to my cause has convinced me that the NDC is indeed a bigger family of love and fellow-feeling. Secondly, I would like to specially thank Former President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, NDC General Secretary, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, Yaw Brogya Genfi, the National Youth Wing of the NDC and the entire leadership of the NDC party for their tremendous support.

Indeed, you exhibited courageous and bold leadership in condemning this tyranny and left no stone unturned in securing my freedom. I would also like to convey special thanks to all the fine legal brains in the NDC who thronged the National Police Headquarters to press home my release and secured bail for me. Indeed, I have come to believe the NDC is equally blessed with legal luminaries who would stand for the right to freedom and free speech of all members of the NDC and would rise against all whimsical and capricious infraction of such freedom.

Special mention goes to Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe, Lawyer Ali Dawud, and lawyer Evans Amankwa for their starring role in securing bail for me. It was also refreshing to see Comrade Prince Derrick Adjei, Comrade Mustapha Abubakar, Hon Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, Hon Baba Jamal, Senior Kwadjo Twum Boafo, Hon Murtala Ibrahim, Abraham Furgeson, Onasis Kobby, and Sammy Gyamfi among others.

I would like to at this juncture pledge my renewed love and commitment to work for John Mahama and the NDC party for my entire life. Indeed, I have never regretted joining the NDC party, and I am convinced now than ever that this is the best family to belong to.

May God bless all of us and grant us grace as we continue to reorganize for victory 2020.
