Deputy Attorney-General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has defended the nomination of Professor Richard Frimpong Oppong, a dual citizen, to the Supreme Court, asserting it complies with Ghanaian law.
He referenced a Supreme Court ruling from April, which permits dual citizens to hold such positions.
This stance contrasts with Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson's objections, who argues that dual citizenship disqualifies candidates from key roles, including judges, citing the Constitution’s requirement for an oath of allegiance.
Tuah-Yeboah praised Prof. Oppong's qualifications, expressing confidence in his ability to perform as a judge despite not having practiced law.
