MP Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings has described illegal mining, or galamsey, as “chemical warfare on an unprecedented scale,” highlighting its severe impact on Ghana’s natural resources and public health.

In a LinkedIn post, she expressed deep concern over the destruction of water bodies and forests, warning of rising health issues like kidney failure and cancer.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings attributed the crisis to greed and corruption, criticizing the government’s inadequate response.

She urged immediate action, stating that galamsey poses a national security threat and should not be exploited for political gain. Her message calls for urgent measures to safeguard Ghana's environment and future generations.
