As Ghana approaches its December general election, concerns over media safety are rising.
At a public lecture on October 23, 2024, in memory of lawyer Akoto Ampaw, Professor Dodzi Tsikata from the University of London highlighted the alarming increase in attacks on journalists by political operatives.
She called for resistance against these assaults, emphasizing the need for journalists to work freely without fear. The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) reports 14 attacks on journalists and media outlets in the past decade, with only one case resolved.
