Consultations are underway between the government and family of the late President John Evans Atta Mills on an acceptable date for the burial and funeral of the departed President.
Official sources have indicated that August 02, 09 and 16, 2012, are being considered as possible dates for the funeral.
Indications are that the August 02 date may be out of the question because it is considered too close, taking into consideration the elaborate preparations that will have to go into the organisation of the funeral.
Organising the funeral on August 09 and 16 appears to be more plausible but that is yet to be confirmed by the funeral committee members.
President John Dramani Mahama at a meeting with the leadership of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) at the Castle Thursday, said the government was still in consultation with the family of the late President, for a settlement on an acceptable date.
He was hopeful that the family and the government would settle on a date which would be acceptable to all the stakeholders.**
