Mahama Ayariga, Bawku Central MP, has requested detailed information from the Bank of Ghana (BoG) on its 2023 financial losses and escalating costs of its new head office.
The BoG reported a GH¢10.5 billion loss, mainly due to increased interest expenses.
Ayariga seeks information on write-offs, combined losses of GH¢70 billion, policy rate increases, and currency issuance expenses. He made the request on behalf of the Minority Leader, citing the Right to Information Act 2019, and demanded a response within a week.
This follows controversy over the BoG's new headquarters, whose cost has risen from $82 million to $250 million.
