A group calling itself Coalition for Youth Development has petitioned the Bureau of National Investigations to investigate the 2016 NPP runningmate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The group wants the BNI to look into reports that Dr. Bawumia caused the transportation of verification kits to his residence to have him verified.
The two officials of the EC have been sacked over the incident at Kperiga in the Northern region but NPP executives in the constituency have rejected the claims of Dr. Bawumia doing anything wrong.
Executive Coordinator of the youth group, Mensah Thompson insists the BNI must step in.
“It is not enough that the EC officials were sacked without any probe on Dr. Bawumia. We don’t want the same issues that was raised after the 2012 elections to be raised after the 2016 elections where one party will feel aggrieved, one party will feel that the elections was not fair.
"The same people who have been raising questions about the independence and fairness find themselves in acts that depicts otherwise,” Thompson stated.
