Private legal practitioner Justice Abdulai has expressed doubt that Speaker Alban Bagbin will overturn the Supreme Court's stay of execution, which allows four MPs to continue their parliamentary duties.
Speaking on Channel One TV, he stated, “I do not foresee a possibility of the Speaker disobeying this without sufficient grounds.”
Abdulai warned that if the Speaker defies the ruling, it could lead to a constitutional conflict, though he believes this scenario is unlikely.
The Supreme Court intervened after the Speaker declared the MPs' seats vacant due to their intentions to run as independents, highlighting ongoing tensions between legislative and judicial authority.
