An Accra High Court has postponed the bail hearing for eight remanded protestors to October 7, 2024.
The protestors’ legal counsel had sought an earlier hearing, but the Attorney General’s department requested more time to review the application.
The AG argued that the bail request should have included the charge sheet and Circuit Court proceedings.
Despite the protestors' counsel offering to quickly retrieve the documents, the court upheld the AG’s position and kept the original hearing date.
The protestors are among 53 individuals arrested during a demonstration in Accra against illegal mining and economic hardship.
