The government has introduced a new initiative to provide free tertiary education for the children of cocoa farmers.
Announcing this on Farmers' Day, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emphasized cocoa farmers' vital role in Ghana's economy. He explained that, with secondary education already covered by Free SHS, COCOBOD’s scholarship funds will now be redirected to support tertiary education starting next year.
This scholarship will cover tuition and related expenses, easing financial burdens for cocoa farming families.
Dr. Bawumia also pledged to establish District Agricultural Mechanisation Centres, providing farmers with affordable equipment to boost productivity.
