Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's flagbearer, has announced plans to provide driving skills to head porters, known as "kayayei".
He disclosed this at the launch of the "Kayayei Empowerment Programme" in Madina on May 21.
The initiative, supported by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), includes a three-story facility offering accommodation and training for 5,000 young women from May to November 2024.
Each month, 600 participants will receive three weeks of practical training, startup kits, stipends, and free lodging.
Discussions are ongoing with Metro Mass and Ayalolo to facilitate the driving lessons for the kayayei.
