The distribution of awards highlighted the significance of academic achievement, as each of the three participating schools—Mfantsipim School, Keta Senior High School, and St. Augustine’s College—received GH¢10,000, while their teachers were awarded GH¢5,000 each.
The NSMQ, a prestigious academic competition in Ghana, attracted significant attention this year, particularly as it was hosted in Cape Coast, a city renowned for its educational heritage. The competition not only showcased the intellectual prowess of the students but also emphasized the support from the government in promoting academic excellence in the country.
In a fiercely contested final, Mfantsipim School ultimately claimed victory, edging out St. Augustine’s College with a score of 47 to 46. This win marks Mfantsipim's third NSMQ title, adding to their previous victories in 1999 and 2014. The excitement surrounding the competition was palpable, with a large crowd cheering on the teams, especially the local favorites from Cape Coast.
The awards ceremony, led by Central Regional Minister Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan on behalf of Dr. Bawumia, celebrated not just the winners but also the dedication of all contestants and their schools. The generous prizes reflect a commitment to encouraging academic achievement and inspiring future generations of students to excel in science and mathematics.
