Bawumia wasn’t allowed to make his own choice; Opoku Prempeh was forced on him – Nyaho-Tamakloe

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a prominent NPP member, has claimed that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh was imposed on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.

Nyaho-Tamakloe had earlier predicted that Bawumia would be prevented from choosing his own running mate. Reports indicate Bawumia named Opoku Prempeh, the Energy Minister, despite wanting more time for consultations.

Nyaho-Tamakloe believes this imposition is unprecedented, contrasting it with previous Ghanaian presidents who freely chose their running mates.

He cited instances where former leaders like Rawlings, Kufuor, and Mahama made their own selections without interference.
