The New Patriotic Party is demanding an apology from pollster Ben Ephson over a report in his newspaper- The Daily Dispatch- which alleged that the NPP has resolved to lie against government ahead of the December 7 polls.
According to the party, Mr. Ephson is too experienced to allow himself to be manipulated by the NDC to spread falsehood about the NPP.
The said report which was published in the August 10, edition of the Daily Dispatch had quoted an alleged internal memo of the NPP which suggested that the party had decided to consistently lie against the ruling party in the hope that Ghanaians will believe it and vote for them.
Addressing a news conference at the party’s headquarters Wednesday, the general secretary of the NPP John Boadu said the report is false and baseless.
“Our only advice to Ben Ephson, the managing editor of the dispatch newspaper is that; do not allow your newspaper to be used for this cheap and unintelligent piece, it is beneath the reputation you seek to portray.
“We demand an immediate retraction and apology from the Daily Dispatch....This fabricated and fake memo creating the impression that the NPP had decided at an advisory committee that we are going to lie to the Ghanaian people about government; well, I don’t want to believe that it is part of an agenda,” he stated.
