Mr Benson Tongo Baba, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) incumbent Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency, in the Upper East Region has retained his seat.
Mr Baba polled 12,874, to beat his Mr Thomas Duanab Wuni of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who polled 8382 votes.
Mr Michael Wombeogo of the People’s National Convention (PNC) polled 9,200; Mr Ayam John Bosco of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) polled 248; and Clinton Nambuligyin Bukari, the Convention People’s Party’s (CPP) aspirant, polled 187.
The National Democratic Party (NDP) led by Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, and Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah the Independent candidate had no parliamentary votes.
The Talensi Constituency has 77 polling stations, and total votes cast were 31,700 whilst rejected ballots were 809.
With the presidential results certified by the Electoral Commission, the NDC polled 18, 798; NPP- 9104; PNC- 2037; PPP- 190; NDP- 39; CPP- 96 and the Independent candidate polled 278 votes.
