Nana Nyarko Frimpomaa, queen mother of Bonwire in the Ashanti Region, is upset about being excluded from the upcoming Bonwire Kente Festival, accusing the chief, Nana Bobie Ansah II, of launching it without her knowledge.
The festival celebrates the origins of the Kente cloth, invented in Bonwire over 300 years ago. Efforts to get the chief’s response have failed.
Nana Frimpomaa called the exclusion unjust and highlighted the festival's benefits.
Meanwhile, weavers urge the government to establish a yarn factory for better quality materials and to address copyright infringement issues.
