Five more suspects in connection with the death of Captain Maxwell Adam Mahama were yesterday arrested at Asankragua in the Amenfi West district, a district of the Western Region.
The suspects according to police in the area were arrested upon a tip-off by locals after they fled Denkyira-Boase on Monday May 29, 2017 following the incident which led to armed troops storming the area.
According to the Asamkragua police, they have liaised with the Central Regional Police Command and are transferring all the 5 to Cape Coast for screening and subsequent prosecution.
In a related development, police in the Central Region have picked another suspect, Charles Boah who went into hiding at his girlfriend’s room at Gomoa Dominase in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
His girlfriend who was scared about his presence informed a colleague who subsequently hinted the police.
He attempted resisting arrest, according to a report on Accra-based Adom Fm but was overpowered by the police and currently on his way to Kasoa and then Cape Coast.
Regional Commander, ASP David Osei Fofie who confirmed the arrest of the suspect on Friday dawn said . “At 1 am this dawn, we had information that one person is in Dominase and suspected to be part of the killing and so we deployed our men there and realized he was hiding at his girlfriend’s place.
The suspect has confessed to being involved in the lynching of the military officer.
