The embattled chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Charlotte Osei must blame herself for the petition brought against her by the concerned staff of the Commission demanding her removal from office.

According to Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr OB Amoah, the actions and inactions of the EC chair has caused anger among staff of the Commission to petition the Presidency for her removal.

“She asked her two deputies to proceed on leave while Economic and Organized Crime Unit (EOCO) investigate them. …They resisted but later on EOCO insisted they should proceed on leave while they investigate them on allegations of four hundred and eighty thousand Ghana Cedis issue involving the workers”.

According to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker for Akuapim South, ,the background stems from earlier decision Madam Osei took against her two deputies currently on compulsory leave.

“Beyond that then we have this whole complaints filed on behalf of the workers also demanding Madam Osei removal from office”, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker explained.

“Obviously some of us knew it will come to this because of what it has been going on. ….it is very unfortunate that somebody like the Minority Leader will jump in and start accusing the President of trying to push people away as he has done in other public sectors”

The NPP representative on Inter Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) for registered political parties in the country therefore indicated that the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu lacks facts before speaking to the issue.

“I respect him so much as my brother at the bar. He went overboard and I will say he and his party have not picked intelligence as far as EC matters are concerned”, Hon. O. B. Amoah stated.
