Chief Imam Dr Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu has asked Ghanaians to patiently wait for the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) for official results of the 2016 elections.
He said the claims and counter-claims of victory by the two major political parties must stop. Speaking to TV3 through an interpreter on Friday, Sheikh Shaributu said the only body the constitution has mandated to declare results is the EC.
Therefore, he said, every Ghanaian should await the Commission’s declaration. He says a message has been sent to all regional chief imams to admonish the teeming Muslim youth not to engage in any form of violence.
He expressed concerns about the rising tension, asking Ghanaians to safeguard the peace in the country.
