Christian Council condemns attack on Erastus Asare Donkor and colleagues, calls for immediate action
The Christian Council has condemned the recent assault on JoyNews journalist Erastus Asare Donkor and his team while covering illegal mining activities in the Ashanti Region.
The Council described the attack by alleged thugs tied to Edelmetallum Mining Resources Limited as a grave threat to press freedom and public access to information.
Commending the swift response by the Ghana Police Service, they urged thorough investigations and justice. They also called on the Environmental Protection Agency to review the company’s operations, stressing the need to protect journalists and uphold Ghana’s democratic values.
The Council extended prayers for the journalists’ recovery.
