Clear NHIS arrears and comply with Insurance Act – Minority to government

The Minority in Parliament has criticized the government for neglecting the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), resulting in its dire financial state.

They claim the NHIS is near collapse and needs urgent intervention. The Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, highlighted that the NHIS hasn't received funds from the Ministry of Finance since February 2024, leaving it virtually bankrupt.

The Minority accused the government of diverting NHIS funds for other projects, causing severe underfunding.

They demand immediate fund transfers to save the NHIS and warn of potential public health crises if the situation persists.
