A fumigation exercise is set to be carried out on the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
The exercise is scheduled to commence on Monday, March 30, 2020 and end Monday, April 13, 2020
In view of that, several parts of the university will be closed down for the activity.
These include halls of residence, lecture halls and theatres, University Health Hospital, and University Security Service.
“The Main Administration Block, Kojo Botsio and J Harper Buildings, Library, Lecture Halls and Laboratories, University Hospital, University Security Services, Estate Organization, Halls of Residence, Hostels (GUSS, GRASSAG, Credit Union, SPRING, etc) on campus will be closed for fumigation from Monday, March 30 to April 13, 2020,” a statement from the university read.
In an interview with the Public Relations Officer of the University, Kwame Yeboah Jnr, he explained that the fumigation exercise was aimed at disinfecting the campus and making the environment safe.
He said that although the University regularly carried out such exercises, it has become more necessary to do so as the country is taking measures to deal with the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Meanwhile, all administration/professional staff, with the exception of staff who render essential services have been asked to stay away from the office.
Teaching staff have been directed to make use of the University’s virtual classroom which has been equipped to handle all online-based academic activities.
