Coronavirus cases in Eastern Region near 800 after recording 82 new positives in single day

The Ghana Health Service has recorded eighty-two (82) new confirmed cases of Coronavirus in seven Municipalities and Districts in the Eastern Region .

The new positive cases have increased the regional case count from 716 to 798.

Denkyembuor District recorded 25 positive cases, while 22 were recorded in Akuapem South.Kwahu West recorded 17 , Kwaebibirem had 10, Kwahu South -5 while Akyemansa and West Akim recorded 2. and 1 cases respectively.

This is the biggest positive cases recorded so far in the region in a single day.

The total recoveries in the region stands at 540 which 67%.

Currently the virus has spread to 26 out of 33 Districts and Municipalities in the region.

The top six Municipalities and districts are Kwahu West, Lower Manya ,New Juaben South,Birim North, Denkyembuor and Nsawam.

Kwahu West has recorded 233 cases with 105 recovered and discharged .

Lower Manya Krobo has also recorded 125 cases which 123 recovered and discharged.

New Juaben South has 75 positive cases with 55 recovered and discharged.

Birim North Case count stand at 55 which 46 have recovered and discharged

Denkyembuor has also recorded 43 cases with 17 recoveries and discharges.

Nsawam Adoagyiri has recorded 40 cases all recovered and discharged .

However the death toll in the region now stands at 10.

270 out of the total confirmed cases in the region are health workers.

Health experts in the Region are worried over the exponential rise in Covid-19 cases in the region warning that the region will hit 1000 infection in the next few days.

Ghana on Saturday recorded additional 758 COVID-19 cases bringing the country’s total case count to 19,388.

Active cases now stand at 4,941 with 14,330 recoveries.

The death toll still remains 117.
